Speaking With New DenturesIf you have just had your dentures installed, then you might be wondering why it's so painful and awkward to talk with your dentures. On top of that, the change in your speech or voice might have made you somewhat concerned.

To adjust to your dentures, you will have to put in some effort. Moreover, you will also have to be patient as well since it takes time to learn how to speak with dentures. During the first weeks, you should expect your voice to be odd because the sound will reach your ears through vibrations of the skull and jaw bones.

Essential Tips on How To Speak With Dentures

Before speaking, you should first bite, then swallow to ensure that your dentures are in position. You can also avoid any slips by applying adhesive creams such as Fixodent.

During our free time, practice speaking loudly with your dentures. This will help you get used to saying certain common words and also give you an idea of how easy it is to speak with dentures.

If your denture clicks when you speak, then you should try and at least speak slowly to avoid any movements that will move or raise your lower denture. Ensuring that your lower denture is in place will depend on your ability to hold still with your lip, tongue, and cheek muscles.

During the first instances, you should expect these dentures to try and kick out the denture. However, with regular practice and time, you will be able to overcome any challenges that may result due to speaking.

Because a denture is a foreign object in your mouth, you should expect your saliva production to be high. On top of that, you should also expect specific difficulties, especially when speaking. Make a point of contacting us in case you will still be facing any challenges when speaking or eating with your dentures.
