Crowns
Dental Crowns (also called “caps”) are non-removable casings that cover your natural tooth. When damage occurs to your tooth or teeth through decay or trauma, crowns may be used to protect them, restoring both form and function.
There are several types of dental crowns including metal, ceramic and porcelain.
Metal crowns are the most durable while ceramic can create the most natural looking appearance.
Some reasons for dental crowns are to:
- • hold together a cracked tooth and seal it from decay
- • restore a weakened tooth
- • support the replacement tooth / teeth in a bridge
- • mask discolored teeth
- • improve cosmetic appearance
